Our MC has arrived!
When instituting a freestate, you have to have role models, somebody to look up to, somebody who has experience, a master in all perspectives. We found him:
Dirk Wynants, mr Extremis. Dirk is one of Belgium leading designers and has his company and life firmly rooted in the Westhoek. His creativity has no boundries and is known globally for his genius designs and outdoor furniture.
We're very happy he will be attending the opening of Westanglia and will give his blessing on our freestate.

Since 1996, Dirk Swartenbroekx (Belgium) is making funky records under the name of Buscemi, one of his favorite actors. His style is deep. Difficult to categorise: nu bossa, nu lounge, house music, brazilian grooves, afrobeat, drum 'n bass... Dancemusic with a latin feel is maybe the best description of the sound of Buscemi.
At Westanglia he will spin the decks at the Highlight of Westanglia, really in the middle of the existence of the Free State. Prepare for the heat this fantastic dj will bring to the floor!

Madam Lena Deluxe from Lille is a rising star in the French music scene. She makes a weird kind of edgy pop music/folk with echoes of the Velvet Underground, Coco Rosie, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Shannon Wright,.... Trust us, you have to check this it out.

OOOPS
We already written 2 pieces, but forgot some basic and important info: who are these guys who do this thingy?
Well, we're Covy&Vanhaelst. Besides the 2 founding members (Covy & Vanhaelst, dûh)there are 2 other brothers involved in this madhouse called Westanglia. What we did in the past, you can read here
We are no rich kids and this whole event couldn't be possible without the support of these kind people:
CO7, regional cultural platform (Heuvelland,Ieper,Langemark-Poelkapelle,Mesen, Poperinge, Vleteren en Zonnebeke)
Jeugdoverleg Westhoek, platform for youth in the Westhoek supported by the Province of West-Flanders and European Community)
Mesen, the town we're taking over for 24 hours

You wanna know who's doing his thing at Westanglia? Who's playing the music, the turntables etc. Who's doing "an attack" on all your senses with his/her art? What movies will be screened? So the whole program, quoi?

Ola, friends of the arts, the crazy and future rulers of the world!
Welcome on the site of Westanglia.
Why in freaking (bad) English? Well we are going global with our shit and it's of course much cooler to do it in Shakespeare's tongue, ain't it. No, "all crazyness on a little stick", we don't wanna offend nobody by doing it only in Dutch or in French. So we are Switzerland and do it in English.
What to expect of this site? Well here and only here you can find all the freshest info on the cultural fairground we're havin in May. Up for it?
